One of my most significant achievements, through my work as an MEP, was helping to secure the Peace Programmes from Peace I in 1994 to the current Peace III.
As Peace III draws to a close, we must acknowledge the huge benefits that the almost €2bn (£1.6bn) worth of extra funding has brought to Northern Ireland.
While the British and Irish governments have agreed in principle to formally request a Peace IV Programme from the European Union, I am continuing to work to ensure that any new Peace Programme will be additional money coming to Northern Ireland.
I would encourage the public to respond to the ongoing consultation, which is compiling views on what a future Peace IV programme may look like.
