Health service demands more than consensus

Published 22/02/2016

Health Minister Simon Hamilton says very little in his article on the health service (DebateNI, February 16).

He seems to be seeking a wide spread of blame for future failure across all of the Assembly parties and beyond.

What the minister fails to recognise is that efficient, democratic government can never be based on consensus. Political consensus, by its very nature, invariably results in cobbled-together solutions.

Ukip will seek to put forward the best solutions for our health and social care services regarding the best interests of the public, rather than seeking diluted consensus solutions.
