Higgins should have his statue in city centre

I REFER to the article in the Belfast Telegraph concerning the proposed memorial to Alex 'Hurricane' Higgins (News, July 26).

I feel that the most obvious location for such a memorial would be on one of the pedestrian islands at Shaftesbury Square, near to where he lived in the Donegall Road area in Belfast city centre.

Higgins' memorial could take the form of a lookalike statue, standing holding a snooker cue in his left hand with the butt resting on the ground and chalking the cue with his right hand.

I think this location would be very welcome and popular - I remember him with much pleasure and appreciation.
