Higher penalties for elderly crime

Published 07/02/2013

I agree with John Ward with regards the low level of penalties for attacks on old people. While these attacks get the headlines and cause a great rise in the fear of crime, they are not that common.

However it is the perception that does the damage. People who attack the elderly do so because they see the old as soft targets. A greater deterrent is needed to reduce crime against the vulnerable.
