Historian 'a pro-Palestinian propagandist'

Eamonn McCann writes (Comment, November 22) that Ilan Pappe is an historian. In fact, he is a pro-Palestinian propagandist.

As Pappe himself said: "Facts are irrelevant when it comes to the history of the conflict. The struggle is about ideology, not facts."

Eamonn McCann forgets that the 650,000 Palestinian Jews in 1947 had the right to political self-determination and independence.

They fought against the imperialist power. That caused the UN to intervene and, in the end Israel, came into being. The Palestinian Arabs did not just reject the UN partition plan. They started a civil war against the Palestinian Jewish community.

If the Arabs had accepted the plan, the Palestinian Arab state would be 64 years old today, and lives of thousands would have been spared.
