HIV is a health issue that can affect anyone

Published 23/01/2014

I AM writing in response to the letter, 'HIV a growing issue in Uganda' (Write Back, January 21), which links Uganda's anti-homosexuality laws with HIV.

HIV is an illness that affects everyone.

In fact, Northern Ireland statistics show that almost 50% of HIV cases are within the heterosexual community, with the largest rise in diagnosis in women in their 40s and 50s.

Positive Life is the only HIV-specific charity in Northern Ireland and we provide our own free, HIV testing at our Belfast office.
