Hospital staff deserve thanks

On Sunday, December 6, my husband Charlie was rushed by ambulance to the Mater Hospital's A&E unit very unwell.

After the speedy initial treatment of fluids and blood tests, he was placed in Ward D where he had two units of blood during the first night.

The attention and care of the doctors and nurses and their medical expertise resulted in his discharge on the following Saturday.

I would like to pay tribute, firstly, to the medical profession who provide such valuable service to us all, and also to the often-unseen and unsung heroes - the blood donors who provide such a vital gift.
