I am praying for priest conversion

IN his letter (Write Back, January 29), Fr Patrick McCafferty seems somewhat upset by my letter (Write Back, January 24) on behalf of the Evangelical Protestant Society (EPS).

We in EPS are both thoroughly evangelical and unashamedly Protestant. Indeed, we take the view that a true evangelical is a Protestant and a true Protestant is an evangelical.

We totally repudiate Fr McCafferty's assertion that we are unrepresentative Protestant extremists. On the contrary, we stand where the Protestant reformers and the Puritans stood. We seek to promote and articulate mainstream evangelical Protestantism as summed up, for example, in the subordinate standards of the mainstream churches.

I can assure Fr McCafferty that I will pray for his conversion and continue to resist his church's false interpretation of the Gospel.

Secretary, Evangelical Protestant Society
