I am a single pensioner. My rates this year have risen by over 30%. What will they rise by next year?
This means even more is being eaten out of my pension - to pay for what?
I seem to be paying for more developers to build more houses and apartments, but who do not seem to have to pay for the services these buildings use.
Do they pay for new sewage systems? New roads? Water pipes? Drainage, etc?
I have a street light, have my bins emptied and, occasionally, the street cleaned. Very occasionally the drains in the road are also cleaned, and I mean very occasionally.
I want a discount on my rates, not after a lengthy consultation in the Assembly which will take years and just help to line more already bulging pockets, but in my next bill!
