Ignore Nolan and bring on the rates cut

The euphoria among Belfast ratepayers at the prospect of a rates cut was tempered by Stephen Nolan on his BBC programme yesterday.

Never one to support ratepayers, Stephen excelled himself by positively grilling the DUP council representative proposing a cut.

His 'biggest show in the country' will soon be the smallest show in the country if he doesn't get behind the people and support them.

He was incredulous that a rates cut could be managed without hitting frontline services.

The DUP man simply couldn't tell him what we all know - that there is plenty of fat in council spending to be removed before frontline services would be hit.

Our only hope now is that our council will vote it through.
