Interesting letter from John Fitzgerald of Co Kilkenny, calling on the West to boycott the Beijing Olympics in protest at the situation in Burma (Write Back, October 5).

He then calls on 'those of us who enjoy the fruits of freedom to speak out on Burma's behalf'.

I wonder if John could let us know if he supports the continued 'neutrality' of his own Government?

It most certainly didn't stand up to be counted when the 'fruits of freedom' were being won in 1939-45.
