Integration in our schools will have so many benefits
I am glad that the Minister of Education is, at long last, beginning to carry out his statutory duty to encourage and facilitate integrated education.
The recent elections and events at Stormont show that too many of us are still polarised into extreme positions of green and orange, with little will to compromise.
In integrated schools children grow up working and playing together; they learn about different cultures and learn to respect people of different religions, different backgrounds and different races.
Shared school campuses only emphasise the differences in our society.
Transformation of more controlled and maintained schools to integrated status will have social and financial benefits.
