Investigation unnecessary in border mistake

THE editorial in the Belfast Telegraph (Debate NI, February 14) about the PSNI driver who lost his way and inadvertently crossed the border into Lifford, correctly states: "It is not an international incident."

Former Donegal mayor Frank McBrearty is, therefore, greatly exaggerating when he describes it as such. It would be a sheer waste of taxpayers' money to investigate.

Now that all cross-border checkpoints have been removed, it is often very difficult for a driver to know exactly which side of the line he/she is on.
