It was depressing to again witness the intransigent attitude of the IRFU to the playing of anthems before international games.
Northern members of the Irfu took cognisance of southern sensitivities during the international with Italy in Belfast in 2007 when God Save the Queen was not played. Is it too much to ask that the southern members show Irish rugby fans from the unionist tradition the same degree of respect?
I watched the game in a Belfast pub and two customers sang the Soldier’s Song loudly and in Irish.
It certainly reduced my sense of loyalty to the team.
