It's all bluster and blackmail in airport row
John Simpson's recent article seems to suggest that the Planning Service is at fault for the delay in a decision on the proposed extension to the runway at Belfast City Airport (News, September 1).
Nothing could be further from the truth.
It is the airport which is at fault for withholding the required environmental Impact report without which the planning enquiry cannot start.
There is a simple reason for this. The environmental impact is probably so damning to the City Airport that they have chosen to withhold it in the hope, presumably, that bluster and blackmail will fool our politicians into taking shortcuts with due process.
