It's just wrong to blame Villiers over Castlederg

THE UUP is being disingenuous when it asks Theresa Villiers to ban a parade in Castlederg.

When the Parades Commission makes a determination, it is not for the secretary of state to invalidate its ruling, unless all the relevant criteria have been met, otherwise there would be no point in having an independent body to arbitrate on marches.

Theresa Villiers had made her disapproval of an event which glorifies terrorism quite clear and the NI Conservatives have consistently condemned the Castlederg parade.

Sinn Fein is being offensive and provocative by supporting the march. It should be called off by the organisers.

It is certainly not the secretary of state's role to intervene in this case.
