Janet Street-Porter's sexism uncalled for

Published 06/07/2016

I share Janet Street-Porter's joy at women breaking through the glass ceiling in political life (Saturday Review, July 2).

Surely it is right that the best person for the job is able to lead - regardless of their gender?

However, can you imagine what would be said if a male columnist were to have written the sexist clap-trap that Janet Street-Porter came out with when she was describing men?

Singling out a handful of men, such as Trump and Gove, while ignoring the many competent and talented male MPs seems unreasonable.
