Jesus more than just Resurrection

John Montgomery (Write Back, April 3) claims that the Resurrection is "essential to the Christian faith".

While Jesus rising from the dead was a great miracle, and I in no way would want to belittle that, it must be borne in mind that Jesus' own instructions asked his followers to remember his death.

The Resurrection was predicted by Jesus and was a triumph over the grave, but he never asked the Church to venerate it or to pick a day on which to recall it as is currently done by the majority of Christian churches not only once a year on Easter, but another 51 times a year by the observance of Sunday.
