Jim Allister gives plenty of hope for unionism
The successful passage of 'Ann's Law' through the Assembly has rightly been hailed as a victory for all innocent victims of terrorism.
Ann Travers deserves tremendous credit. The law could not have been passed without her.
It is, however, also correct to say that it could not have been passed without Jim Allister.
I saw the Press conference with Jim Allister surrounded by DUP MLAs (who had previously criticised him) all nodding in agreement. Perhaps there's hope for unionism when those MLAs now crowd behind the so-called "fringe player", who was politically correct and true then, as he is now.
