'Job-spotting' a new pastime

Published 12/05/2015

You may have heard of various 'anorak' hobbies, such as plane-spotting and train-spotting. Well, now there is another one called 'job-spotting'.

This involves the collection of online job application forms, job descriptions and selection criteria. It also entails analysis to determine the frequency and probability of certain job ads appearing. For example, I have noticed a trend emerging with certain employers here who seem to keep on advertising the same jobs every two to three months.

One wonders whether, in fact, they actually hire anyone at all, or whether the jobs exist.
