Justice is cross community

Published 08/04/2010

I refer to an article in the Belfast Telegraph on March 20 entitled 'We won't back Ford for justice post, says UUP' in which Fred Cobain states that the Ulster Unionists will not be supporting David Ford's bid to be Justice Minister because under the rules the position should go to the SDLP.

I am just wondering exactly what sort of a Unionist Party the Ulster Unionist Party has become? Surely it is obvious that the first Justice Minister should indeed be somebody who can gain cross community support and after that it can be shared on a rota basis. But no, the Ulster Unionist Party would rather this position went to a nationalist.

All potential voters for the Ulster Unionist Party need to bear this in mind on May 6.
