I'm writing in response to the letter from Neil Laurenson in New Zealand (Write Back, January 10).
I agree that the riots about a flag are stupid. However, these people are from Northern Ireland, which is part of the United Kingdom, and the national flag is the Union flag, not the Irish flag, as Neil assumes. Therefore, to compare this to Kiwis rioting because the Australian flag isn't flown on New Zealand's parliament buildings is irrelevant.
