Language projects have important role

Councillor Ronnie Crawford states that investment in Irish-language broadcasting and capital projects amounting to £20m is a "vanity project of nil real benefit" (Write Back, February 17).

He should visit Belfast's Gaeltacht Quarter to see for himself and his colleagues the direct benefits (and their knock-on effect) of previous language funding for one of the North's most traditionally disadvantaged areas.
