Lay off council gritters, they can but try

I AM writing to express my gratitude to Carrickfergus Borough Council for their work over the past period of cold weather.

When I listen to shows like Nolan and hear people complaining about their own road or footpaths not being gritted, it really frustrates me.

I am a resident of the Knockagh Road, on the outskirts of Carrickfergus, and we grit our lane, drive on treacherous roads, but we accept it because we understand that the council has to prioritise the grit that they have left.

I feel that it is extremely selfish of residents to complain about their personal path or drive not being gritted.

I feel it is time that someone stood up for people in councils who have been vilified in the past weeks and call for the public to lay off those who are merely trying their best.
