Learning a hard lesson over jobs
In response to the Belfast Telegraph article 'Youth unemployment hits 15 year high': did you know that we now have 5,000, yes 5,000 teachers in Northern Ireland who can't get jobs.
Over the last 25 years most of our manufacturing jobs have been shipped to the Far East where garments, shoes, electrics, can be produced for next to nothing.
Our governments quietly said nothing about Far East work conditions and child labour abuses and even applauded this trade. Our media and public said nothing because for years we have all benefited from cheap goods.
Now it is pay-back time. We have suddenly realised we don't have the money to buy even essential services or to pay needed nurses, doctors, midwives or teachers.
