Leaving the EU will bring the UK closer together

Published 30/03/2016

JOHN Gemmell (Write Back, March 23) - like Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, UUP leader Mike Nesbitt and others, including the Prime Minister - have all said that leaving the EU would lead to the break-up of the UK.

So, why then are the SNP, Plaid Cymru, Sinn Fein and the SDLP all campaigning for the UK to remain in the EU? The SNP have already announced they are working on "IndyRef2" - regardless of Brexit.

Are we really to believe that Scotland and Northern Ireland would leave the rest of the UK, which is by far their biggest trading partner?

In fact, I believe the opposite to be true - leaving the undemocratic EU will restore parliamentary sovereignty and the primacy of UK law.

It will also lead to increased economic growth and higher wages (according to the recently released CBI-commissioned PwC report).
