I ENJOYED a stroll along Newcastle's impressive promenade on Wednesday, bathed in sunshine.
Later, reading that the Mournes is vying to become a national park, filled me with disbelief. Newcastle is a natural gateway to it, but one look at the 'beach' filled me with horror as it was littered with bottles, cans and other debris.
Was this the result of an overnight beach party - or Down District Council's tardiness?
