Little people the world over

Moving on from worldwide flood tales, it is interesting to note that stories of 'little people' exist in cultures as diverse as those of Samoa, native North America, Scandinavia, Ireland, and Arabia.

Strong evidence, perhaps, that the little people exist. Did these stories arise independently?

I happen to think the Irish Leprechaun version is the most credible.
