Living links never to be sundered

I received an inquiry from a grand-nephew and grand-niece in England who were about to visit war graves in Europe: did we have a relation who was in the war?

I visited Solihull last weekend and saw pictures of the name of Lance Corporal Thomas Kedian, my mother's grand-uncle who died at the Somme, on the Thiepval Memorial taken by them, after they made the connection between the generations and our respective countries - living links that will not be sundered.
