Losing orchestra must be averted

THE news that the Ulster Orchestra is under threat comes as a great surprise. I know from my time in Northern Ireland that it is one of the jewels in Ulster's cultural crown.

To have come through so much tragedy and chaos unscathed and then, when Ulster has achieved such incredible social and economic progress, to be in peril defies my understanding. Efforts must surely be made to avert this potential catastrophe.
