Make candidates stand over their hyperbole
ONE of the more enjoyable aspects of elections in Northern Ireland is to listen to Stephen Nolan excoriate party leaders over some of their less well-thought-out manifesto pledges.
Having received various candidates' election material through my letterbox, I am amazed by the almost super-human achievements of former MLAs in a mere eight months since their last election outing.
Did these hopefuls really achieve so much on their own? Or have they slightly lost the run of themselves in their belief that they really do "make things happen"?
I suggest that Stephen Nolan ask listeners to send him examples of election leaflets which raise an eyebrow and invite the candidates on to his show to stand over their election hyperbole.
