McCreary right about happiness

Alf McCreary's assertion (Saturday Review, July 28) that "Happiness is not necessarily found in religion" is a wise one. The Old Testament defines how people interact when unhappy and the New Testament defines how we interact when happy. The theme of the Bible is that individuals tend to be unhappy, while strong communities tend to be happy.
