Media coverage of Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn — or lack of it — appalling
Easily the biggest political news story in the UK over the weekend was Jeremy Corbyn’s rout of his leadership challenger in the Labour Party leadership contest.
His share of the Labour membership vote actually increased slightly when compared to his initial victory a year ago.
Yet, apart from the minority-readership, centre-Left Observer, all the other Sunday newspapers mostly ignored it. Yet again, a perfect illustration of how one is supposed to think within prescribed intellectual tramlines in our neo-liberal democracies.
Stray outside the permitted thought parameters and the media establishment works against you.
You can imagine the triumphant, jeering front page splashes had Corbyn actually lost.
