Medication helps fight depression

I was saved from crippling depression in 2009 by antidepressants. Unfortunately, the doctors have to take a responsible approach and I endured months of black dread before the level was up to 225mg and they finally had an effect.

I completely support the talking therapies and have been helped by them, but there was no way this oppressive burden was going away without medication.

Talk of "throwing away the smarties" is very dangerous.
