Melting Arctic ice poses no danger

Published 10/10/2013 | 01:30

I AM disappointed in the incorrect science in Paul Hopkins' article (DebateNI, October 4).

He refers to the Arctic ice melting causing "more devastating floods for us". Totally incorrect.

Arctic ice is floating sea ice and, according to Archimedes, has already displaced the water that makes it up.

Now Greenland ice, or the Antarctic – that's a different matter.
