Minister is out of tune with Ulster Orchestra

Published 26/04/2016

I came across a BBC documentary a while back in which the people of Leningrad organised a concert featuring the city’s orchestra during the Nazi siege of the city in the Second World War.

The people thought that this would boost the morale of the citizens, many of whom were starving to death. What a pity our ‘Culture Minister’ doesn’t have the same attitude towards the Ulster Orchestra.

However, if the Ulster Orchestra really wants the support of the ‘Culture Minister’, then maybe it should change its name to the ‘North of Ireland Orchestra’, as this seems to be the only name she recognises.
