MLA's glazing allegations 'are unsupported'
I WOULD like to respond to an article in the Belfast Telegraph (Comment, July 11) by Jim Allister MLA. Mr Allister continues to make unsupported allegations that I absolutely refute.
Firstly, double glazing replacement programmes are not on hold. In fact, in 2012/13, 8,660 Housing Executive homes were double glazed, 9,000 are planned for this year, leaving approximately 4,000 to be completed in 2014/15, in line with the Programme for Government (PfG) target.
Secondly, as I stated in the Assembly on Monday, contracts are procured and awarded by the Northern Ireland Housing Executive. I have absolutely no role.
All of these matters will be fully considered by the social development committee inquiry.
I have already made it clear that I am fully behind this inquiry and have sought in every way to carry out my duties with the utmost integrity and probity.
