MLAs handsomely rewarded for failure
Could someone kindly solve this challenging conundrum?
It is now eight months since the Assembly election and we still have no functioning Executive.
Yet Northern Ireland, much like the Marie Celeste, still manages, without a captain and crew to stay afloat, dodging enormous budget icebergs and decision-making along its present unknown course.
Since this is the case, why then do we need to keep 90 MLAs in full salaried employment, amounting to £6m - and then give them a payrise on top for not even turning up?
I think we, the electorate, should be told.
