Mourne concerns

Published 04/05/2009

Are the authorities aware of the proliferation of events over the past five years in the Mournes and the environmental damage arising from them?

Surely now is the time to exercise greater control over such events and to have the organisers made more accountable before the environmental damage becomes irreparable.

I believe the National Trust and the Mourne Heritage Trust should exercise greater control over events by having the organisers notify them in advance so that an environmental damage appraisal can be carried out before the event happens.

The Mournes need to be preserved.
