Mugabe votes don't add up

Published 28/01/2011

Robert Mugabe and his ZANU-PF party don't intend taking many chances in Zimbabwe's general election, planned for this year.

According to a recent report, more than a quarter of registered voters in Zimbabwe are dead; 2,344 are supposedly aged between 101 and 110 years old; with another nine aged between 111 and 120 years old - in a country ravaged by poverty and HIV.

This ZANU-PF tactic certainly puts Ireland's old adage of 'vote early, vote often' in the shade.
