Many members of the L.G.B.T community have done a great deal of work in the arts and local politics in our city It is time to show the rest of the city our proud history and our struggle today.

To 'WH' - as I said in my earlier post, your 'argument' is not with my views but with what Jesus Christ, God the Son, has said and one day you will give an account of your life to Him.

You do not honestly believe all that stuff, do you? There are 1000s of religions around the world, what makes you believe that yours is the correct one?
You are entitled to your beliefs, but your are not entitled to force them onto other people. You, as a Christian, have to believe in an immaculate conception, you have to believe that talking snakes and talking donkeys existed, you have to believe that someone died and then came back to life again, you have to believe that someone could change the molecular structure of a liquid (water) and change it to another liquid (wine) at will, you have to believe that the same bloke could walk on water (a scientific and proven impossibility), you have to believe that it is OK to stone homosexuals to death, you have to believe that it is OK to stone children to death for misbehaving, you have to believe that rapists should be "forced" to marry their victims (as a punishment!).
These beliefs are perverse in the extreme.

To 'Commom sense', 'WH' & 'GMT - The reality is that your objections are not with my expressed views or those of Rev Cotton. Your objections are directed against Jesus Christ who declared that the scriptures are 'TRUTH'. This same Jesus says that His words will never pass away. Your problem is with this Christ who teaches that God is angry with men because of sin, and that man's only hope of forgiveness is through repentance and faith alone in His substitutionary death on the Cross. This is the same Christ who created all things and to whom all created humans will one day give account. In Psalm 14:1 the scriptures also identify God's view of those who deny His existence and that is God's logic.

The funniest thing I find about Rev Mervyn Cotton is what he would be going in a museum anyway? The majority of the exhibitions are older than 6k years. What does he tell his grandchildren then?
"Oh those 'dinosaur' bones are actually a test from satan, along with those homosexuals".

You are indeed correct that according to the bible homosexuality is a "sin". No one can doubt that, the bible even instructs that homosexuals should be killed as a result of their behaviour. Here is a direct quote:-
Leviticus 20:13 (New International Version)
13 " 'If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They must be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.
However, Reverend, there is a major difference between me and you. I do not pay any attention, or give any credence whatever, to this heinous book of fairy stories that is called the bible.
The bible also instructs that it is OK to rape women, it is not. The bible also instructs that it is OK to kill children, it is not. The bible also instructs, in a direct quote from Jesus, that slavery is OK, it is not.
You should always have the freedom to believe whatever you want, but that does not give you the right to dominate others.

As a Christian I find this suggestion offensive and insulting in the extreme. A 'proud history' indeed! -- of sin, would you expect me to take my grand children to an exhibition of sin? no thanks!. Sin certainly is a 'struggle', but it is a struggle against the Word of God, on the broad road to spiritual ruin. Homosexuals and lesbians find their place with all other unsaved sinners and, just like the rest, can be saved by the rich grace of God; (1Cor6:9-11) 'Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.'

Oh wait you mean I don't follow 'Christian logic'? Which states you can live inside a living whale for a few days. A god was on this earth and broke the laws of physics (magic), without any proof ofcourse. That women were created from a rib. etc etc etc.
Well I guess in terms of christian logic my comment is way out there huh?

The key word is 'consent'. Usually paedophiles operate without consent.
Personally, I disagree with Tatchell in regards to lowering the age of consent to 14.

Satanic? Like McD points out, satan and the idea of hell is what you believe, not me. You may think that I (along with over 5 billion people that disagree with christianity) dress up in black and slaughter lambs on wkends for some magical red beast - but that's just a little bit crazy, isn't it?

Bigotry is passed on from generation to generation, it is one of the things that human beings are very good at.
Who takes children to museums? Usually parents/guardians or school teachers. Attitudes can only be changed in school or in the home, unfortunately they will not be changed in a museum.

For gods sake give them what they want, anything to shut them up. Clear a room of ancient exhibits and let them do as they will. Anything to keep another down- trodden minority content for a while. And while we're at it I'd like to see a heterosexual pride day, once a year in central Belfast. Participants could parade through the city on the back of lorries, dressed in our most provocative sex wear, kissing and waving at the passers by....Just like our gay brothers and sisters. Can't see it happening though, don't think it would be permitted. And before the anti- heterosexual brigade start lambasting me, I'm not bigoted or homophobic, I'm just sick listening about it. I really couldn't care less, each to their own, do as you please. But please give the rest of us a break!

I have absolutely nothing against gays and lesbians. Although not part of that scene in anyway I count at least 1 gay man and 2 women as friends. I say at least because some could still be in the closet.
However if they wish to be treated by the more narrow minded elements in society as 'normal' perhaps they shouldnt constantly make such a bloomin song and dance about their sexuality. Belfast is a bit more conservative than my home city but there you were just as likely to see same sex people snogging the face off each other in a public space than different sex. Why? Why a museum? It is a pure accident of birth. Should there be a tall persons museum? or a ginger museum? or a shortarse museum? get a grip- you arent that special and if you single yourself out as special expect someone with few brain cells to target you.

WH - surely a museum piece would go a little way toward removing some stigma attached to homosexuals, especially here in NI. Surely you can see the possible educational aspect of this for our young people? As I type this comment, 2 in 3 comments could be classed as homophobic - 1 in 3 is balantly homophobic. I'll assume most if not all posters are adults, and that is just shameful.
Aaron for example - that's the type of knuckle dragging that gets homosexuals violently attacked and perpetuates religiously based non-sense. There's no need whatsoever for hurtful comments, if you don't agree with them just keep it to yourself. There's no place for discrimination in a 1st world 'intelligent' country.
