Nawaz misses point on faith
WHILE Joe Nawaz (News, June 13) may express a puzzlement concerning BBC1's City Of Faith, decrying that it fails in its intended purpose, in this I have to disagree.
In his piece there was a photograph of Gerry Gribbon, whose story, along with a young Presbyterian couple, was in one of the episodes.
I have had the privilege of meeting Mr Gribbon a couple of times and an episode wherein he tells his story of faith was a powerful one.
It's ironic that the programme showed him at Lourdes; there, in 1858, similar sceptics, such as Mr Nawaz, were confounded by the miracles worked through little Bernadette.
She, like Mr Gribbon, reveals God's mercy at work – even when we refuse or are indifferent to that working.
