Nazi link not the fault of banker

Published 21/02/2013 | 04:20

While it pains me to comment positively on the Catholic Church, I can't see how filling the vacant post at the Vatican Bank with the chairman of a firm that built warships for Nazi Germany is an embarrassment.

Ferdinand Porsche, the man behind Volkswagen and Porsche, designed tanks for the Nazi war effort. Anyone who has owned a suit from Hugo Boss might also be at pains to discover it designed the black uniforms for the SS.

Kodak, Siemens, Ford and IBM all had connections to Nazi Germany.

Are they all to be held accountable for the horrors of the past?
