No honours in sporting glory

THE honours system has become devalued (Write Back, July 10). In the past, the likes of Alfred Hitchcock, Charlie Chaplin or David Lean had to wait decades.

Even sporting greats, such as Roger Bannister and Bobby Charlton, had to wait. Now you just win a single sporting event.
