Northern Ireland's Spads must be put under the spotlight
Leaving aside all questions as to the truth or otherwise of statements by Jonathan Bell and Arlene Foster respectively, I am puzzled and shocked by references to the role of special advisers in this appallingly wasteful scheme.
These advisers are not civil servants, nor are they elected. What, pray, are we to make of the allegations by Mr Bell that they were determining and unduly influencing policy?
How does this fit with the notion of democracy?
