For the first time we are going to see if Northern Ireland’s politicians are up to the job.
There is no doubt that the public spending cuts are going to cause enormous hardship here and it will be the task of the politicians to decide what are the real priorities.
Which ministers will have the courage to say that their budget should be cut to the bone so that extra money will be available for, say health or education or job creation?
That’s when we will know the real mettle of our political leaders.
