Open-top bus is just the ticket

I would like to commend Belfast open-top, red bus, CitySightSeeing Tours based at Castle Place.

I took the tour recently with my brother and his son from Edinburgh.

The charge of £12.50 per ticket did seem a bit pricey but this was reduced to £10 as there were four of us and in the end the tour proved good value. Tickets can be used over two days on a hop-on hop-off basis.

Throughout the journey our uniformed guide gave us a concise take on today's Belfast. This was enhanced by a good dollop of Belfast humour.

Our guide proved very knowledgeable about past and present city folk-lore, geography, history, politics, architecture, famous personalities etc. She managed to pack a lot in without being boring.

I was particularly impressed by her politically balanced, positive overview. A fine spring-board taster to our city!
