Orange Order can't disguise its sectarian nature

THE deputy mayor of Craigavon, Councillor Colin McCusker (Write Back, July 29) presses the case for Portadown District LOL No 1 to be permitted once again to parade from Drumcree Parish Church down Garvaghy Road.

Cllr McCusker also calls for the establishment of an independent panel to investigate why this dispute has not been resolved.

I don't see the need. The long and bitter history of Orange Order parading down Garvaghy Road should suffice.

Who can forget the triumphalist David Trimble and Ian Paisley as they embraced following the last parade down Garvaghy Road?

The Orange Order provides religious camouflage for those members who continue to maintain a system of privilege and power. It defines itself more by a hatred of Catholics than a love of Christ.
