Our integration with England makes sense
I wish to express my wholehearted support for your correspondent, Alan Love (Write Back, January 9), who promoted the idea of integration into the government of England.
The substantial majority of the population of Northern Ireland wish to be citizens of the United Kingdom, so let us be just that - a fully integrated part (county?) of the UK, represented by our elected MPs at Westminster.
Fully integrated, we could then dispense with the grossly expensive and mostly incompetent talking-shop at Stormont - not to mention all the duplication of functions and costs in many areas of civic administration.
The aspirations of the nationalist community could be addressed by a statutory referendum on possible integration with the Republic of Ireland, at intervals of, possibly, 10 or 15 years.
