Pavements are for pedestrians

I HAVE long been concerned by the increasing practice of motorists and commercial vehicles half-parking on our footpaths.

In the event of a pedestrian being injured by such a vehicle, would they be denied compensation, since the insurance company could claim the motorist had parked illegally and invalidated their insurance cover?
